ECONOMICAL ANALYSIS
American’s responses to economical conflict during the Civil War might not have been seen as influential, but through primary
sources that interpretation is proven to be false. Through the primary sources identified in the Economical Resource tab, illustrate that what they did was influential. The patterns can then be articulated into a complex series of actions, which clarify economical responses from those directly or indirectly involved in the division of America. The primary sources suggest that Americans were affected by the Civil War on many levels and that reconstruction posed new threats and new challenges for America as it struggled to piece itself back together. The following examples illustrate tangible responses from Americans as they sought to create order in an otherwise difficult time before and during the Civil War.
The picture given on the economical source page is influential because it demonstrates the North’s point of view because Lincoln
cared for the African Americans. It was the North, lead by Lincoln, who came up with the Emancipation Proclamation. The South did not support the freedom of slaves; therefore, they decided to fight further and make false promises to their slaves. The Confederates let blacks enlist, but had the troops segregated and sent the African American slaves to the more dangerous battles. The blacks were able to enlist, but not get the same rights as a white man. In contrast, the North supported the being of equal rights (hence the picture). Lincoln lead the states to change and helped create equal rights for all people.
The table on the page, was influential just like the cartoon because the table shows the differences between the North and South how the south had land and more slaves, but yet the North were the ones that wanted freedom of the slaves. The South was not as strong as the North. The only thing that the South had on their side was the farm land. The table was interesting because the South had all the land and slaves, maybe they did not want the freedom of slaves because they did not want to have to work.
Many influential aspects of the Civil War The cartoon involving Vice President Johnson and President Lincoln. Johnson was a former Confederate but was loyal to the Union and agreed with the abolishment of slavery. He helped Lincoln in trying to bring the U.S. as one Nation, hence the cartoon. This is Johnson on the globe "stitching" the United States back together, while Abe is encouraging him and in humbleness because they're becoming one. In their plans, the South must pledge alliance with the Union and oblige the 13th amendment. Lincoln and Johnson were on the same page, but when President Lincoln was assassinated on April 15, 1865.
This chart is also included for being influential during the Civil War because it demonstrates how much the African Americans did in the late 1700's to the 1800's. The slaves not only helped with the creation of our needs, but also the help with protecting the nation. So why is it that we did not grant them equal rights? With the more slaves, the more we produced, not only cotton, but other necessities like farm goods. It shows that economically they helped America.
Slaves, cartoons, illustrations and charts were influential during the Civil War because they help influence the people as to which side they believed in. Through the Civil War people were fighting for freedom, rooting for their "side" and trying to take part in the War. They all took a part in influencing the people during the War and without these pieces, people would have nothing to go off of. Through the Civil War, the people were brought together through a belief. Reconstruction was followed by media and was helped by the media because with out the people working together under a common good, reconstruction was possible.
